District Commissioner – Liz Donovan

Telephone: 01432 760881

Credenhill District has 2 active Rainbow Units, 4 Brownie Units and one large Guide Unit. All the other Units are very busy with exciting and varied programmes conducted in a safe environment.

We would like to re-open a Rainbow Unit at Moreton on Lugg and are still looking for someone who would like to run this Unit. We are also looking for a new Leader for 1st Burghill Guides preferably to start after Christmas 2010 but any time up to the end of June 2011.

All the Units are large and thriving and have had a very busy Centenary year. They have all taken part in several of the Centenary events organised at District ,County and  Region level.

The Rainbows held a District Princess party and joined all the other Units at a District Centenary Fun Day at Broomy Hill Model Railway when over 100 girls enjoyed an afternoon of train rides, games and craft with a picnic tea. Everyone went to the Opening Ceremony at the racecourse, the Thinking Day service at the Cathedral in February and attended the Closing Ceremony as a District at Burghill Church.

Each Unit gave a presentation and after renewing our promise at 20.10pm on 20.10.20.10.we left church to the sound of the bells ringing out from the tower. Burghill Brownies also went to the Carnival at Drayton Manor Park in April and had a sleepover at the Science Museum in London. They also raised over £200 for Help the Heroes had a summer trip to Slimbridge and a Seaside themed Pack Holiday in September and they completed the Adventure 100 badge. Credenhill Brownies went to London and Moreton Brownies had a fantastic Pack Holiday at Caerphilly in South Wales.

1st Burghill Guides went to WHOOSH, the Centenary Camp organised by Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire and had a brilliant time.

Although we have all been very busy we have not neglected other activities normally held in our meetings and most Units rose to the Challenge of how they would ‘Change the World’. Following the Closing Ceremony where the theme was VISION, the girls all suggested their vision of the future and looked forward to the next 100 years of Guiding.

CREDENHILL DISTRICT REPORT MARCH 2012

Credenhill District Guiders gathered for a very pleasant social evening on Friday January 20th at Burghill Guide HQ. There were 17 current and past Guiders present who had a lot of fun catching up on news and enjoying a delicious shared meal.

1st Burghill Guides held a super “Santa Sleepover” at Dunfield House near Kington at the beginning of December. They thought it was a great venue for a residential event.

1st Burghill Brownies raised over £700 bag packing at Grandstand Road Co-op supermarket on December 17th. They have divided this amazing sum of money and have given £350 to their chosen charity, MARS and will be able to fund their census money with the rest. Doctors from MARS came to a Brownie meeting on Tuesday January 17th when the Brownies presented them with the money. Brown Owl, Fiona Bailey, also became a “patient” and was treated for multiple injuries by the Brownies, under the guidance of the MARS doctors.

All Units took part in the District Thinking Day celebrations on February 24th hosted by Stretton Sugwas Brownies, when each Unit gave a short form of entertainment as their contribution to the District heats for Herefordshire’s Got Talent. Everyone took part and gave some excellent performances
