The Following Awards are presented in the County and application forms can be downloaded in PDF format at the bottom of this page.
CHRIS ROGERS AWARD GUIDELINES
This Award is given in memory of Chris Rogers who died in 2004.
Nominees for this award should be young Girlguiding members aged from 5 years to
18years who have achieved something in Guiding, which is beyond their normal expectations
and/or those of other people. This will fulfil Chris Rogers favourite expression-
There will be a maximum of 4 awards presented each year, one award for each section i.e. Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Senior Section.
All recommendations should be in consultation with Unit Guiders and District Commissioners.
Applications should reach Dr. E. Donovan, Awards Chairman, by April 25th each year in order that the Awards Committee can discuss the applications.
The Awards will be given at the County AGM.
HEREFORDSHIRE COUNTY AWARDS GUIDELINES
THE GOOD SERVICE BROOCH
The County Commissioner gives this Award to a uniformed adult up to her 65th birthday, who is a member of Girlguiding UK, for excellent service to Guiding in the County.

THE YOUNG LEADERS ‘CERTIFICATE OF SERVICE
This certificate may be awarded when a Young Leader has completed a period of service with a Unit as a Record of Achievement.
All nominations for the Good Service Brooch and County Brooch should be made in consultation with Unit Guiders and District Commissioners where possible. Nominations can be sent to the Awards Committee Chairman at any time but preferably before April 25th if the Award is to be presented at the Annual Review.
The Young Leaders’ Certificate is awarded at the discretion of the Unit Guider and/or the Young Leader Adviser and can be presented at any time.

AWARDS IN HEREFORDSHIRE
The Awards Group oversees any nominations for Guiding Awards from within the County for Awards at County, Region and National level.
County Awards include the Chris Rogers Award for young members aged 5-
The Awards are normally presented at the Annual Review in June/July and so the Group needs to receive nominations for these awards by April 25th in order to allow time for discussion. Anyone can nominate a suitable candidate and District Commissioners have application forms.
National Awards include the Laurel and Silver Fish Awards for outstanding service to Guiding at County, Region and/or national level, the Good Service Award, the Star of Merit Award and the Silver Cross Award. During the Centenary year there will be three meetings at Midlands Region HQ to select nominees for these Awards, who will then be sent to the meetings of the Girlguiding Awards committee at CHQ.The dates for Midlands Region are Dec 2nd 2009,March 31st 2010 and July 2010. Applications should reach MHQ at least 3 weeks before the Awards meeting.
A Thanks Badge may be given to any person as a sign of appreciation for their support.
At Midlands Region we are able to nominate 3 Guiders from Herefordshire who are doing excellent work at Unit level. The closing date for these nominations is normally the beginning of July and the presentation is in November. Anyone can nominate a Guider for this award, through the County Awards Committee.
The Young Leaders’ Certificate can be awarded to a Young Leader who has completed a period of service with a Unit and may be used in her Record of Achievement. Any Guider can present this certificate and requests for certificates should be made through the District Commissioner. Please encourage Guiders to consider their Young Leaders for this certificate.
